Iran Press/Asia: Security officials confirm that a gathering has come under mortar attack in West of Kabul city this afternoon.
The incident has taken place close to a gathering which was organized to mark the 24th martyrdom anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari, reported Iran Press citing Afghan Khaama Press News Agency.
The Ministry of Interior officials confirm that several explosions have been heard in West of Kabul city. Meanwhile, ISIS has reportedly claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Nusrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the gathering was targeted with mortar fires and one suspect has been arrested in connection to the incident from a residential house.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Public Health officials is saying that three people have died and 22 others have sustained injuries in the attack.
Eyewitnesses are saying that 12 explosions have been heard so far together with sporadic gunshots from the site of the incident.
Some high-level political leaders including former President Hamid Karzai, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, presidential candidate Mohammad Haneef Atmar, and Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq were present in the gathering when the incident took place.104/203
