Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Judiciary reported 113 arrests during the 14th presidential election for violating the relevant laws.

Iran PressIran news: Asghar Jahangir told reporters on Tuesday in a press conference that during the elections, headquarters for detecting electoral violations were formed at three levels to prevent the cases.

Jahangir reported that 113 individuals were arrested on July 5 during the runoff of the Iranian 14th presidential election most of them were released by bail. 

He also said that two news channels in social media were recognized as violators of the violation process and were criminalized.
As he said, 4,500 Instagram pages were closed due to encouraging the people to boycott the election and voting and inject disappointment into society.

The first round of the Iranian 14th presidential election was held on Friday, June 28, 2024, and reached a run-off with Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili; the run-off will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has held 5 nationwide elections just in 2024 within short periods; two rounds of parliamentary elections, an election of the Assembly of Experts, and the 14th presidential elections the run-off of which is underway on Friday, July 5, 2024.

The election was held simultaneously abroad in different countries so that the Iranians living abroad could cast their votes on the ballot boxes to choose a president.

Canada was the only country that banned the election for Iranians.
