Joint meeting of Iran's High Council for human rights kicks off

Tehran (IP) - The joint meeting of the High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the resident ambassadors and heads of UN agencies kicked off in Tehran.

Iran PressIran News: At the opening speech, the Representative of Thalassemia Victims in Iran, Younes Arab, called the imposed sanctions on Iran in medicine truly unfair.

Referring to some of the patients who attended the meeting, Arab stated that in the last two years, Iranian patients' rights had been neglected through political decisions.

"We request the International criminals to be brought to courts," he added.

As another speaker of the conference, the representative of EB patients in Iran, Hadi Keykhosravi, stated that EB patients had been supported by charities and people, though their medicine had been really expensive.

Around 800 to 1000 people in Iran are suffering from EB, even though they have lots of abilities and challenges.

"Iran’s banking sanctions and transactions are the main cause of the lack of lotions and bandages for EB patients which is essential for them," he noted.

"Although the US claims that there are no medical sanctions, we see EB patients die due to lack of required medicine," he concluded.
