Iran Press/Africa: Masoud Pezeshkian, who traveled to Egypt to participate and speak at the 11th D-8 Summit, met with Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, at his residence on Thursday morning.
In this conversation, Pezeshkian highlighted the D-8 Organization as an expansive market and a prime opportunity for its member countries to bolster and diversify their trade, culture, science, and technology exchanges. He expressed that if the group's resolutions and decisions were effectively pursued and implemented, the eight member countries could significantly benefit from the Organization's potential.
Pezeshkian underscored that adhering to commitments is a fundamental teaching of Islam. He emphasized that if Islamic countries make decisions within such an organization, they must be committed to implementing them. He highlighted that one of the most critical issues at this summit is the emphasis on executing the resolutions.
Diligent Implementation of D-8 Resolutions
Pezeshkian added that responsible entities in member countries must diligently oversee the implementation of the Organization's resolutions and pursue this process until the goals are fully achieved. This diligence will allow them to adopt new decisions to strengthen the development and progress of their nations at future D-8 summits.
Pezeshkian emphasized the need for a financial and monetary system to boost trade among D-8 countries and proposed a development fund for joint investments, with Iran ready to lead this effort. He also highlighted Iran's willingness to host a D-8 energy and communications ministers' meeting, emphasizing the importance of experts reviewing and identifying sectoral issues for final decision-making.
