Iran Press/ Iran news: The Head of IRIB World Service, Peyman Jebeli, has said US authorities are fully responsible for the safety and well-being of arrested Press TV news anchor and journalist , Marzieh Hashemi who has traveled to the United States to visit her brother who is suffering from cancer.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon, Peyman Jebeli condemned the arrest and internment of journalist Marzieh Hashemi and called for her immediate and unconditional release from prison, and her return to her family members.
The president of IRIB World Service emphasized that IRIB will do everything possible to secure the release of Marzieh Hashemi, including exploring all legal avenues for her release, and providing legal assistance to her. Peyman Jebeli described the Press TV anchor 'as the voice of the voiceless'.
Jebeli also alluded to the fact that the FBI and US authorities have not brought any charges against Hashemi, nor have they provided any explanation as to why she has been arrested. Jebeli said: "Even members of her family don't know why she has been incarcerated."
In further remarks, the Head of IRIB World Service said: "If something happens to Ms. Hashemi, the US government will be held responsible and accountable."
