IP - Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa congratulated Abbas Araghchi on his election as Iran's Foreign Minister and wished him success.

Iran Press/AsiaIn this conversation, Kamikawa recalled the encouraging assistance provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran to the affected people in the Great East Japan Earthquake incident and praised and appreciated Dr. Araghchi's efforts as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Japan during those days to help the earthquake victims.

Referring to his country's desire to develop bilateral relations between Tehran and Tokyo, as well as the continuation of regional cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Japanese foreign minister expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation and consultations in the new era.

Kamikawa also expressed concern about the dangerous situation in the region after Mr. Haniyeh was targeted in Tehran and emphasized the need to calm the situation and called for restraint from the conflicting parties.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi thanked the Japanese counterpart for the call, and expressed his first interview as foreign minister with the Japanese news agency Kyodo, and stated that Iran's new policy is to expand relations with the whole world, especially East Asia.

Referring to the crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip and the current issues in Palestine as one of the important challenges at the international level, Araghchi emphasized that the provocative actions of the Zionist regime, including the assassination of Martyr Haniyeh in Tehran and Netanyahu's approach to expanding the war, are the main factors in the escalation of tension in the region.

Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that as we have said many times, we are not afraid of an increase in tension in the region, but the Islamic Republic of Iran, unlike the Zionist regime, does not want the expansion of tension and conflict in the region.

In this call, the parties emphasized the continuation of discussions and exchange of views for the development of bilateral relations as well as regional cooperation.204
