Iran Press/West Asia: Spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense group, Mahmoud Basal, said on Tuesday night that Israeli warplanes directly targeted Civil Defense forces while they were attempting to retrieve the bodies of martyrs and the injured from the rubble in the Sabra area, south of Gaza, resulting in the death of one Civil Defense member.
Mahmoud Basal said that with the martyrdom of Ali Mohammad Mustafa Omar, a Gaza Civil Defense rescuer, the number of Civil Defense martyrs since the start of the Gaza war has reached 87.
He also noted that the Geneva Convention and international laws emphasize the protection of rescue workers and humanitarian service providers.
