IP - According to the UN, Israel notified the UN at midnight on Friday that the entire Palestinian population north of Wadi Gaza estimated at 1.1 million people should relocate to southern Gaza within 24 hours, a UN spokesperson says.

Iran PressAmerica: Israel’s military on October 13 directed the evacuation of northern Gaza, a region that is home to 1.1 people about half of the territory’s population within 24 hours, U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said.

This could signal an imminent ground offensive, though the Israeli military has not yet confirmed such an appeal. On Thursday it said that while it was preparing, a decision had not yet been made.

“The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences,” the spokesperson adds. “The United Nations strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded avoiding what could transform what is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation.”

Israel has already imposed a complete siege on Gaza; shutting off water, electricity, and gas; shuttering its own border crossings into the enclave; and bombing Egypt’s Rafah crossing, temporarily rendering it unusable as well.

According to the latest numbers from the U.N., at least 338,000 Gaza residents have been displaced in 7 past days.

Israeli officials said Thursday that at least 1,300 people have been killed in the Hamas invasion, and at least 2,800 more wounded.

At least 1,537 Gaza residents have been killed in Israel's counterattacks, including 500 children, and another 6,600 wounded, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
