South Africa and Israel will face each other at the top UN court on Thursday where judges will hear a South African case accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and requesting an emergency suspension of Israel’s military campaign.

Iran PressEurope: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague, also known as the World Court, will have two days of hearings this week in a case brought in late December accusing the Israeli regime of failing to uphold its obligations under the 1948 Genocide Convention.

On the eve of the hearings, Netanyahu for the first time publicly stated opposition to calls from right-wing members of his government, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, for Palestinians to leave Gaza voluntarily, making way for Israelis to settle there.
