Iran Press/ Iran news: The Social Forum 2023 focuses on the contribution of science, technology, and innovation to the promotion of human rights, including in the context of post-pandemic recovery.
The 2023 Social Forum of the Human Rights Council is one of the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council, which was established in 2002 (during the existence of the Human Rights Commission), and every year, the Social Forum examines different dimensions of a particular issue regarding the most important international challenges, developments, and concerns related to human rights.
During the two-day meeting, over 60 high-ranking officials, diplomats, and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are scheduled to discuss the contribution of science, technology, and innovation at this time of crisis linked to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in various expert sections, said Iran press on Thursday.
Ali Bahreini, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva is presiding over the 15th meeting of the Social Forum 2023.
Rouhollah Dehghani, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy at the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is also participating in this meeting.
This is the first time that Iran has assumed the presidency of the Social Forum of the Human Rights Council.
