Tehran (IP) – Referring to the signing of the Rasht-Astara railway contract with Russia and the opening of joint border projects with Pakistan, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman rejected US' concern in this regard.

Iran PressIran news: In his Twitter account, Nasser Kanaani stated on Thursday that the signing of the Rasht-Astara railway contract and the opening of joint border projects in the presence of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Prime Minister of Pakistan are in continuation of Iran's neighbor-oriented strategy based on cooperation for security, development and common prosperity.

He termed US' concern in this regard as unjustified and rejected it.

On Wednesday, Iran and Russia inked an agreement on the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway to complete the North-South railway corridor that connects East and South Asia to Northern Europe.

This agreement was signed between the representatives of the two countries after the speeches of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
