Iraq's President called for new election law, saying that he would approve early elections once it is enacted.

Iran Press/Middle East: Speaking on Thursday on Iraq's latest developments in response to anti-government protests, President Barham Salih said that Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi is willing to resign, but the resignation would only happen if it doesn't leave a constitutional vacuum.

He also promised an early election, but only after the institution of reforms to the current electoral system and a national dialogue to improve how the country is governed.

Salih stressed the need for real and serious reforms in his country while calling on all Iraqi factions to keep protests peaceful.

Earlier on that day, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said that he is ready to resign amid the anti-government wave of protests across the country escalates.

The new round of popular demonstrations in Iraq in a peaceful manner began as of October 25, in various cities, including Baghdad the capital, Karbala, Basra, Najaf and other cities in protest to corruption and poor economic conditions.

The Iraqis peaceful protests are aimed at their needs and demands to be met by the government.
