Kataib Hezbollah group in Iraq says it has suspended all military operations against US forces in the region.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The decision is aimed at preventing the “embarrassment of the Iraqi government”, Al-Jazeera cited the group’s secretary-general Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi said in a statement.

“As we announce the suspension of military and security operations against the occupation forces – in order to prevent embarrassment of the Iraqi government – we will continue to defend our people in Gaza in other ways,” he said.

The statement added that many of its allies, “often object to the pressure and escalation against the American occupation forces in Iraq and Syria.”

In response to the announcement, a US White House spokesperson said: “Actions speak louder than words.”

Kataib Hezbollah is the most powerful element in a group called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which has claimed more than 150 attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria since October 7.

In response, the US has conducted air raids and imposed sanctions against groups in Iraq, particularly Kataib Hezbollah.
