In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Iranian wrestlers secured three gold medals and one bronze at the U20World Wrestling Championships held in Pontevedra, Spain.

Iran PressEurope:  In the 77 kg weight category, Alireza Abdevali showcased his talent by defeating his opponents in a series of impressive matches. He started the competition with a commanding 16-5 victory over Ji Xin Yu from China. Abdoli continued his winning streak, overcoming Aydin Riks from the USA 7-3, and then narrowly defeating Karl Hugo Baf from Sweden 2-1 in the quarter-finals. His semi-final match against Tornike Mikladze of Georgia ended with a score of 3-1, sending him to the finals. Abdoli claimed the gold medal by defeating Magomed Yarbilov from Russia with a final score of 3-1.

Ali Ahmadi Vafa's Impressive Performance

In the 55 kg category, Ali Ahmadi Vafa also shined, first resting in the initial round. He then decisively won against Hiu Ying Shi from China with a score of 9-0. Vafa continued to excel, defeating Rahim Hasanov from Azerbaijan 6-1, and advancing through the semi-finals with a 6-3 victory over Ali Bek Amiraf from Russia. He capped off his outstanding performance by winning the gold medal, defeating Isaya Kortez from the USA 9-3 in the final match.

Erfan Jarkani Claims Bronze

In the 63 kg weight class, Erfan Jarkani faced a challenging tournament. After a first-round bye, he suffered an 11-0 defeat to Arzu Zakriev of Russia. However, with Zakriev reaching the finals, Jarkani was given another chance in the consolation bracket. He bounced back, winning 9-0 against Pavel Denisenco from Moldova, followed by a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Mohammad Shokurzada from Azerbaijan. Jarkani secured the bronze medal by defeating Anri Khuzrovanidze of Georgia 6-2 in the bronze medal match.
