The Iranian student team achieved remarkable success at the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), securing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, earning a commendable ninth place overall.

Iran Press/Iran news:   According to the Ministry of Education, the competition, held in Alexandria, Egypt, saw Amirali Asghari winning a gold medal, while Amirhossein Farkhondehfar and Amirreza Dorosti claimed silver medals, and Parsa Farajpour earned a bronze.

Despite visa delays, the Iranian team participated online. Teams from China, the United States, and Poland secured the top three spots in the competition. The 36th IOI commenced on September 1 (Shahrivar 11) with the participation of hundreds of students from 96 countries and will conclude tomorrow, September 7 (Shahrivar 18).

The event was organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The Informatics Olympiad, known for its emphasis on problem-solving skills, is one of the most prestigious academic contests. It is the second most popular international student competition after mathematics, aiming to promote computer science among high school students.
