Serbia (IP) - Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Kioumars Hashemi arrived in Belgrade on Thursday morning, marking the start of his official visit to Serbia.

Iran PressEurope: He was warmly welcomed by Iranian Ambassador to Serbia Rashid Hasanpour and Marko Kesli, Deputy Minister of Sports of Serbia, at Belgrade Airport.

Hashemi told Iran Press that the purpose of his visit is to strengthen the already flourishing sports ties between Iran and Serbia through the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

Accompanied by Mohammad Hossein Taghizadeh, Director General of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Iran, and Amir Hossein Gharibnejad, Deputy Director of Cultural Cooperation and Non-Governmental Organizations of the Public Diplomacy Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hashemi's itinerary includes a meeting with Serbian Minister of Sports and a tour of Serbia's scientific centers and sports infrastructures.

This visit is a testament to the strong bilateral relations between Iran and Serbia, particularly in the realm of sports, and it is expected to pave the way for further cooperation and exchange of expertise in the sporting field.
