Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s regional strategy is based on preserving the territorial integrity of countries, including Syria. He noted, "While the region was moving toward relative calm after the ceasefire in Lebanon and attention was focused on Gaza, the recent events in Syria have raised serious concerns about regional security."
The Iranian President further expressed Iran’s readiness to cooperate in combating terrorism and ensuring regional stability. He underscored the importance of unity among Islamic countries in assisting Syria to overcome terrorist groups. "Such incidents are part of the Zionist regime's malicious plans to spread insecurity, division, and conflict within Islamic countries. This makes cooperation and joint efforts of the Islamic community essential to prevent the spread of terrorism in the region," Pezeshkian stated.
In his response, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani expressed his concern about the rise of insecurity in northern Syria and described the recent actions of terrorist groups as an attempt by the Zionist regime to undermine Syria’s security and territorial integrity. "These events highlight the urgent need for diplomatic engagement by the international community and regional countries to prevent the spread of terrorism, as failure to act will pose serious risks to global peace and security," al-Sudani warned.
The Iraqi Prime Minister reiterated Iraq’s commitment to playing a leading role in countering terrorist activities, stating, "Through continuous communication with regional leaders, we are working towards establishing a framework for collective action to combat terrorism. We believe that all countries in the region must unite to restore stability and security to Syria."
Al-Sudani also emphasized that Iraq's government and people will thwart the Zionist regime’s plans to promote sectarian discourse in the country. "At this critical juncture, all efforts and actions by the Iraqi government and people will focus on combating terrorism, not on fostering sectarianism," he added.
