Tehran (IP) - Iranians participated in a runoff election for the remaining seats in the country’s parliament as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called voting the national duty of citizens.

Iran PressIran news: Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, after casting his vote this morning in the second round of parliamentary elections, stated that participating in elections is a national duty that must be observed by citizens.

The first round of the 12th parliamentary elections was held on Friday, March 1st. Of the country's 87 million people, more than 61 million were eligible to vote in the polls.

Voters took part in the parliamentary elections to choose 290 legislative body members from over 15,000 candidates. Elected members will serve for a term of four years in the parliament.
