Iran Press/ Europe: Elham Salehi competed against athletes from Uzbekistan, Nigeria, the Philippines, Montenegro, and a representative from the refugee team. As the third competitor to take the field, she faced challenges in her first four throws, which were declared invalid by the judges.
However, Salehi registered a distance of 15.69 meters on her second attempt and achieved her best throw of 16.24 meters on her sixth attempt, earning her a well-deserved bronze medal.
In this event, the Uzbek athlete broke both the world and Paralympic records with an extraordinary throw of 21.12 meters, claiming the gold medal. The silver went to the Nigerian athlete with a throw of 19.26 meters.
The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games officially began on August 28. Iran is represented by 66 athletes competing in 10 different sports, showcasing the talents of the country's physically disabled and visually impaired athletes.
