Tehran (IP) — The Iranian Navy welcomed a significant upgrade to its arsenal with the addition of numerous new watercraft and weapons in a ceremony held on Wednesday in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The event, attended by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, saw a total of 42 items integrated into the Navy’s fleet.

Iran PressIran news: Among the enhancements were multiple corvettes, naval boats, minesweeping helicopters, and hovercrafts that had undergone extensive refurbishment by local experts before rejoining the naval fleet. Additionally, the Navy outfitted its Sahand destroyer and a selection of naval drones with cutting-edge systems, including advanced radars, combat weapons, and air defense missiles.

A substantial supply of cruise missiles, electric torpedoes, three types of smart naval mines, domestically produced cannon projectiles, missile guidance systems, and underwater weapons were also delivered to enhance the Navy's capabilities.

In a strategic move, the Iranian Navy has established three ocean commands tasked with overseeing naval operations in the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean.
