IP - Kazem Gharibabadi, Secretary General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights announced the release of Hamid Nouri from illegal detention in Sweden.

Iran PressIran news: In a post on the X platform, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy Chief for International Affairs of the Iranian Judiciary and Secretary General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights, announced the freedom of Hamid Nouri.

"I am pleased to inform the dear people of Iran that Mr. Hamid Noori, who has been in illegal detention in Sweden since 2018, is free and will return to the country in a few hours," his post in Persian read.

Gharibabadi post added: "This success is due to the efforts of my colleagues in the Judiciary, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially my brother Martyr Dr. Amir Abdullahian.

Earlier, "OmanObserver" reported that the Sultanate of Oman was involved in a negotiation that resulted in an agreement between the Iranian and Swedish on the mutual release of nationals detained in the two countries.

Nouri was prosecuted based on claims made by the MKO, a terror outfit that has killed over 17,000 Iranians in the past years. 

In November 2019, Nouri was detained while arriving at Stockholm Airport and was subsequently taken into custody.

He has been detained in Sweden’s solitary confinement for three and a half years without authorization.
