Iranian MPs condemn US assassination of Lt.Gen. Soleimani

Tehran (IP) - Members of Iran's Parliament on Sunday issued a statement noting that Martyred Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was an international symbol of resistance which with his martyrdom his character and thinking will be broadening.

Iran Press/Iran news:  A statement by Iranian lawmakers released at the end of a public session on Sunday 5th January highlighted, "Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani martyrdom marks the beginning of the end of US presence in the region. The stupid act of the US president is not only a violation of the sovereignty of Iraq, but also of Iran, West Asia and countries around the world.

"We expect the friendly and brotherly country of Iraq to take legal action seriously and put tough revenge on its agenda. We call on everyone to fulfill this national demand," the MPs added.

"The US government has embarked on a dangerous adventure. It is necessary to take appropriate action in the field of diplomacy," the MPs noted.

The statement concluded, "The judiciary is expected to work through the international community to fulfill this demand of the Iranian people, adding that there is no doubt this is an act of state terrorism."

The MPs stated, "We, the MPs, support any action in this regard."

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Friday Morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. 104/219
