Tehran (IP) - Iran's Ministry of Intelligence has announced the arrest of 35 individuals suspected of involvement in the tragic terrorist attack that occurred in the city of Kerman.

Iran PressIran news: The Ministry also revealed critical details about the perpetrators and their modus operandi.

The investigation, which continues with the full cooperation of other intelligence agencies, has uncovered the identities of the masterminds behind the attack, including a Tajik national known as Abdullah Tajiki. Tajiki, along with a woman and child who provided cover, illegally entered Iran and settled in a rented house on the outskirts of Kerman.

He is believed to have played a crucial role in planning the operation and manufacturing the homemade bombs used in the attack.

The Ministry also identified one of the suicide bombers, identified as Bazirov or Bozrov, an Israeli son of Amanullah, 24 years old and a citizen of Tajikistan. Bazirov, who was indoctrinated into the extremist ideology of ISIS through the Telegram messaging app, underwent training in Afghanistan and was dispatched to Iran to carry out the attack.

The second suicide bomber's nationality remains under investigation, but significant clues have been gathered and will be released once further details are confirmed.

On the day of the attack, the two suicide bombers departed from their hideout separately and headed towards Golzar Shahada, a cemetery in Kerman where the grave of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, a prominent Iranian military General, is located.

However, they were deterred by the robust security measures in place and instead detonated their explosives at locations further away from the cemetery.

The Ministry's investigation has also revealed that the terrorists had planned to target the grave of General Soleimani directly but were thwarted by the tight security cordon.

Following the attack, the Ministry immediately initiated a manhunt for the perpetrators and their associates. On the evening of the attack, the first arrests were made, and the next morning, the Tajik nationality of one of the terrorists was confirmed.

Additionally, a number of suspects involved in the Kerman tragedy have been identified beyond the country's borders, and their pursuit is a top priority.

Addressing recent media reports suggesting the discovery of multiple bombing plots prior to the Martyr Soleimani commemoration ceremony, the Ministry clarified that these reports were inaccurate in terms of both the number and timing of the purported discoveries.

While there have been instances of foiled bomb plots, including one targeting the grave of Martyr Soleimani, they all occurred at least five months ago and were swiftly thwarted with the assistance of the Iranian people.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency, emphasizing that all such incidents are duly reported to the public.

The Ministry expressed its deep appreciation to the loyal and vigilant citizens of Iran, particularly the people of Kerman, for their contributions in identifying individuals linked to terrorist activities.

The Ministry urged the public to continue their vigilance and report any suspicious activity to the Ministry's intelligence headquarters.

The Ministry's unwavering resolve to bring the perpetrators of the Kerman attack to justice remains unwavering. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available. The Ministry commends the efforts of all involved in the investigation and extends its gratitude to the Iranian people for their unwavering support.
