The Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development said that the construction of the border crossing between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan will begin in Ağbənd region.

Iran PressAsia: According to Iran press report on Friday, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Mehrdad Bazrpash, heading the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Azerbaijan, said: "the executive operation of the border crossing starting from Ağbənd region starts with the presence of the heads of the joint economic commission of the two countries today."

Referring to the construction of two dams in the border region between the two countries, the head of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan added: "The construction of one of the dams has been completed, and the second dam has 97% physical progress and is in its final stages."

Noting the long-standing and cultural affinities between the two countries, Bazrpash noted: "The trade balance of the two countries has decreased in the past years, which should be improved again, and since a large part of these commercial ties is related to transportation and transit, we are looking for a positive agreement in this area. "

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran added: "The tripartite agreement regarding the sale of electricity between Iran, Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was concluded in the past, and we will finalize it during this trip so that the process of buying and selling electricity between the three countries is established."

Aghbend is a town in the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan close to the point at which the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran form a politically sensitive junction. 219
