Iran Press/Iran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Brunei Foreign Minister of Darussalam, Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, discussed bilateral relations.
Felicitating Eid al-Fitr, the Iranian foreign minister underlined the importance of cooperation with Muslim, friendly and Asian countries in the foreign policy of the new Iranian administration.
Expressing hope that he would meet the Brunei foreign minister in Tehran, Amir-Abdollahian noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes developing relations with Brunei Darussalam.
He also underlined the need for unity among Islamic countries to counter extremism.
Appreciating Brunei's positive position in the international forums, the Iranian foreign minister called for the establishment of a technical committee between the two countries and the increase in technical, trade, scientific and economic relations between Iran and Brunei.
The two sides also exchanged views on the latest situation in occupied Palestine and condemned the crimes of the Israelis. Amir-Abdollahian considered the united voice of Muslims and Muslim nations on Quds Day as the most important sign of the survival of the Palestinian cause and resistance to the liberation of Al-Quds.
Welcoming the increase in relations with Iran at various levels and in different fields and expressing hope for a visit to Tehran, the Brunei foreign minister called for a meeting of the two countries' technical committee in Brunei. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations should continue.
He also condemned the crimes of the Israeli regime in Palestine and supported the convening of a special meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the developments in the occupied territories. 219
