Iran's Foreign Minister met his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat on Thursday.

Iran Press/Asia: Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahain left Tehran for Ashgabat on Wednesday evening to meet with Turkmen officials to expand Iran-Turkmenistan relations.  

In his meeting with Turkeminstan's Foreign Minister, Amir-Abdollhian said: "We are pleased that we have seen agreements in the areas of health, transit and transportation, as well as various issues related to water tensions in the region and the need for stronger cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan in preserving the existing water resources of the two countries."

Also, Amir-Abdollahian met with the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to discuss bilateral issues and regional and international developments.

Issues of mutual interest, especially economic and commercial issues, transit, energy, and the fight against terrorism, are among the most important topics to be discussed during the Iranian FM's visit to Turkmenistan. 219
