(IP) - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in The Hague, in a statement issued on Thursday, condemned the terrorist attack that occurred in the city of Kerman on Wednesday, January 3.

Iran PressEurope: The attack claimed the lives of 93 people and injured over 200, including 14 foreigners.

The Iranian Embassy placed the blame for the attack squarely on the United States, asserting that the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, a prominent figure in the fight against ISIS, emboldened the terrorist group and created an environment in which such attacks could occur.

The statement noted that ISIS, in a statement published following the attack, claimed responsibility, stating that two members of the group detonated suicide vests.

The Embassy also emphasized the timing of the attack, which coincided with the fourth anniversary of General Soleimani's assassination by the United States military.

Also, the Embassy highlighted the irony of the United States' claim to be a champion in the fight against terrorism while simultaneously supporting ISIS.

The Embassy argued that the coincidence of the Kerman attack with General Soleimani's anniversary underscores the true nature of U.S. involvement in the region and its complicity in the rise of ISIS.

It concluded by reiterating Iran's stance on the danger posed by ISIS, emphasizing that the group's targets are not limited to any specific nationality, race, or country.

It called for the international community to unite against ISIS and its backers, warning that complacency would have grave consequences.

The statement is a strong condemnation of the Kerman attack and a clear message to the United States that its actions have created a breeding ground for terrorism.
