In a spectacular display of athleticism, Saeid Afrooz, representing Iran, clinched the gold medal in the javelin throw at the 2024 Paris Paralympics and set a new record.

Iran PressEurope:  Saeid Afrooz, a world and Paralympic record holder in the F34 javelin category, competed against seven athletes from China, Colombia (two athletes), Morocco, Brazil, and Iraq at the Stade de France.

As the fourth competitor in the lineup, Afrooz delivered an astonishing performance, breaking his own world and Paralympic records three times with throws of 40.18 meters, 40.67 meters, and 41.16 meters in his first three attempts.

Afrooz continued his remarkable form with throws of 39.87 meters and 40.86 meters in his fourth and sixth attempts, respectively, while his fifth throw was declared a foul.

At the conclusion of the event, Afrooz stood at the top of the podium with his 41.16-meter throw, successfully defending his Paralympic title from Tokyo.

Two Colombian athletes secured the silver and bronze medals with throws of 39.04 meters and 37.17 meters.Afrooz’s victory marks the third gold medal for Iran's "Children of Iran" contingent at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
