Tehran(IP) - On his first workday on Thursday, the newly appointed Interior Minister of Iran stressed that Afghanistan is one of Iran's main neighbors, and Iran was and would support the country.

Iran PressIran news: In response to Iran Press, Ahmad Vahidi said that Iranians were well aware of Afghanistan's crisis, so some Afghan nationals returned to their country, and some would return in coordination with Afghan governmental officials, so there was no problem in Iran-Afghanistan borders. 

Vahidi said Iran always welcomed Intra-Afghan talks and hoped that different Afghan groups and parties reach fruitful results through negotiations to solve their issues. The US withdrew the country and brought nothing for it but misery.

The newly appointed interior minister also emphasized securing people's livelihoods and containment of the corona pandemic as his priorities.
