Tehran (IP) - Chairman of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization Hamid Zadboum said that the volume of trade between Iran and Uzbekistan can be increased up to one billion dollars in short term considering the existing capacities.

Iran Press/Iran News: During a meeting with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Furqat Sidiqov, Hamid Zadboum announced the holding of the 14th Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation meeting between the two countries in the spring of 1400 (Next year in the Iranian calendar starting from March 21, 2021) to develop economic relations.

Referring to the cooperation between the Chabahar Free Zone and the Uzbek Free Zone in various fields of logistics, energy, and industry, he stressed the need to strengthen alternative routes to access the Uzbek market.

Zadboum emphasized the strengthening of exhibition cooperation between the two countries, voicing Iran's readiness to participate in Uzbekistan's building and plastic exhibitions next year.

Currently, there are about 290 Iranian-invested companies operating in Uzbekistan, he added.
