Tehran (IP) - "An agreement is possible only based on mutual understanding and interests," tweeted Iran's Foreign Minister after a phone call with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell late on Tuesday.

Iran PressIran News: "We remain ready to negotiate a strong & durable agreement," Hossein-Amir Abdollahian added.

"The U.S. must decide if it wants a deal or insists on sticking to its unilateral demands. Mutually exclusive," the minister noted.

Mr.Borrell has also reported that he held a phone call with the top Iranian diplomat and stressed the need to conclude JCPOA revival talks.

The top European diplomat Josep Borrell wrote on his Twitter account that he spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdolahian earlier on Tuesday.

Borrell said in his post, "If we want to conclude an agreement, decisions are needed now."

The telephone call between the two chief diplomats comes after Borrell visited Tehran on June 25, and Iran and the United States resumed indirect talks in Doha, Qatar, on June 28-29.

The talks in Doha, which took place after a four-month pause, were mediated by Borrell's deputy Enrique Mora.

Amir Abdollahian reiterates that Iran sincerely seeks a durable and sustainable agreement provided the U.S. adopts a "realistic" approach and lifts sanctions on Iran.

Moreover, contrary to the Westerners' interpretation of the Doha talks, Iran has said the talks were positive.

The day after the Doha talks, the Iranian ambassador to the UN, Majid Takht Ravanchi, said, "The ball is in U.S. court, and if the U.S. acts realistically and shows serious intention to implement its obligations, the agreement is not out of reach."
