Tehran (IP)- The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, ( AEOI) Mohammad Eslami, announced that the country will host its first international nuclear energy conference on May 6th and 7th in Isfahan.

Iran PressIran news:  The conference aims to shed light on the challenges faced by Iran's nuclear program and highlight the country's achievements in the field. Eslami, speaking on the occasion of National Nuclear Technology Day on April 8th, revealed that Iran has made significant progress in its nuclear industry. He mentioned that the Comprehensive Strategic Document of the Nuclear Industry in Vision of 2040 has been developed to guide future advancements. In 2022, 159 achievements were unveiled, followed by another 150 achievements in 2023.

One key area of focus for Iran's nuclear energy sector is irradiation, which has seen a 2.5-fold increase in activity over the past year. Despite facing sanctions, He emphasized that Iran has successfully localized the ability to repair power plant equipment.

Furthermore, Iran has made strides in utilizing alpha radiation for cancer treatment and developing innovative technologies like the plasma jet system for wound treatment. Eslami highlighted the importance of radiopharmaceuticals and announced plans to launch a radiation system aimed at enhancing food security through disinfection.

As Iran marks the fiftieth anniversary of its nuclear energy activities this year, he expressed optimism about celebrating this milestone with a special ceremony. The theme for this year's activities is "production leap with people's participation," underscoring the importance of collaboration between experts and citizens in advancing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
