"The mission of the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran is in line with the first neighbors principle which is one of the golden principles of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran focuses on further enhancing the relations between the two neighboring and Muslim countries in all respects commensurate with the historical ties and ties of the two nations," The News daily reported on Monday.
Last November, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran believes in the policy of living with strong neighbors and is taking steps for its implementation.

Hosseini who is a career diplomat replaced Mehdi Honardoost and has previously served as Iran’s ambassador to Italy and the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Iran.
"He has emphasized the necessity of strengthening and expanding relations between Iran and Pakistan as well as the current level of economic and trade relations between the two countries in view of the good political relations," according to the newspaper's website.
Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan in 1947 after its independence from India as a British colony.
