Iran Press/Iran News: Referring to the recent developments in southern Yemen, Iran's Foreign Ministery Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports a united Yemen based on its principled policy to maintain the territorial integrity of that country."
He added, "Such actions will not only help solve the current problems in Yemen but will also complicate the situation in that country."
The separatists' Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is backed by the United Arab Emirates, announced a self-rule government in the southern provinces of Yemen on Sunday morning.
The council also announced that a state of emergency has been in place in the area since Saturday night.
Stressing the need to stop the war against Yemen and end the brutal siege of the Yemeni people, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said, "The only way to stabilize Yemen is to unite the Yemeni groups holding comprehensive political talks among the different groups to establish a united and inclusive government."
