Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the British chargé d'affaires to protest the latest UK sanctions on Iran's shipping aviation industries.

Iran Press/Iran News: Following the imposition of illegal sanctions by the UK against some Iranian natural and legal entities, including the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and several other entities and individuals over accusations of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, the British Chargé d'affaires (in the absence of the ambassador) was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign ministry stressed that Iran's legitimate and legal cooperation with other countries in the fields of defense and security is not against any third party and that the illegal interference of certain European countries, including the UK, in Iran's defense cooperation with other countries is not acceptable at all.

The European Union and the UK on Monday imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and several other entities and individuals over accusations of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia.

In this meeting, Abbas Naderi, the assistant director general of Western Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the measure taken by the UK and said that the action was contrary to international law and violated the principle of freedom of navigation and maritime trade.

The British Chargé d'Affaires said they would report the situation to London as soon as possible.
