Iran Press/ Iran News: Mahdi Karimi told IranPress in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that the improvement of relations in the health tourism area would lead to the improvement of relations in other fields.
Karimi added that Iran, with its expert medical staff, has the potential to be a good destination for health and treatment tourism from other countries.
Noting that the price the foreign health tourists pay for treatment in Iran is much less than in other countries, he said: "Health tourists are mostly from Iraq, Afghanistan, and to some extent Pakistan, but it is expected that health tourists from other countries will come to Iran."
The health tourism official further said that the expansion of the tourism industry leads to the promotion of a wide economic situation through creating jobs, generating income, reducing poverty, and expanding social justice and welfare in the country, besides national identity expression.
Health tourism is a wider term for travel that focuses on medical treatments and the use of healthcare services. It covers a wide field of health-oriented tourism ranging from preventive and health-conductive treatment to rehabilitative and curative forms of travel.
