Iran Press/ Iran News: In response to a question on the adoption of Hong Kong's new election law in China's Congress, Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Thursday that his country respects China's sovereign decision.
"The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is part of the People's Republic of China's territorial integrity, hence its affairs are China's internal affairs. China has shown over the years that it adheres well to the principle of a 'one country two-state system in Hong Kong," Khatibzadeh added.
"Legislation of China's National People's Congress on the electoral system is among the body's authorities in line with the principle of one country-two state system," he stated, adding: "It is therefore natural that any foreign interference in China's internal affairs, which could, among other things, undermine Hong Kong's stability, is rejected."
