Iran Press/ Iran news: The British Ambassador to Tehran, Rob Macaire, met with Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Parliament Speaker's Special Advisor for International Affairs, on Sunday.
At the beginning of the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian said: "The parliaments of the two countries have always discussed and exchanged views in various fields, and the parliamentary friendship group of the two countries has been formed in the new parliament of Iran and the UK House of Commons and the final list of members has been determined."
Iranian parliament speaker's special advisor for international affairs praised the continuation of the commission talks between the two countries' parliaments but criticized the slow pace of cooperation, including Britain's procrastination in fulfilling its commitments.
He called the opening of the banking channel and commercial exchanges part of London's commitments, adding that some officials in London not only are not fulfilling their obligations to Iran but are also making baseless accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Referring to the readiness of businessmen of the two countries to increase the level of cooperation, he said: "There are good capacities in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Britain that can help strengthen cooperation and also accelerate and facilitate relations between the two countries."
Criticizing the arbitrary actions of the United States and some of its allies for violating peace and security, Amir-Abdollahian cited the use of terrorism as a tool and attempts to dismantle Muslim countries in the region as factors that impede global peace and energy security.
At the beginning of the meeting, the British ambassador to Tehran called the parliamentary cooperation important for the development of bilateral relations and said: "The British Embassy in Tehran will make every effort to strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries' parliaments."
Referring to violation of commitments by the US, Rob Macaire said: "After the US withdrawal from JCPOA, we were in a complicated situation, but nevertheless, Britain has always declared its support for the nuclear deal."
Referring to the issue of Yemen, the British ambassador added: "We support a political solution in Yemen."
In this meeting, Rob Macaire stressed the need for negotiations and Iran's adherence to JCPOA, and Amir-Abdollahian said: "Iran's unilateral adherence to JCPOA is not sustainable and acceptable. Tehran has always considered diplomatic negotiations a useful way, but negotiations for negotiations are a repetitive and fruitless game."
