Iran Press/ Iran news: Brigadier General Esmail Qa'ani made these remarks in a letter addressed to Yahya Sinwar, the newly appointed Political Bureau chief of Hamas, on Friday. Sinwar stepped into the role after Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran late last month.
Qa'ani referred to a promise made by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to deliver a "severe response" to Israel and to avenge Haniyeh's death.
"The Leader has made it clear that avenging Haniyeh's blood is our duty in the face of this grievous event that occurred within the Islamic Republic," Qa'ani stated. "Undoubtedly, the blood of this noble martyr will contribute to the severe punishment of the Zionist regime at the hands of the Islamic Republic."
Addressing Sinwar directly, Qa'ani expressed confidence that the steadfast resistance of Hamas and its allies will amplify the impact of this punishment and accelerate the elimination of the "ominous phenomenon" of the Israeli regime.
Resistance movements across the region, including those in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, have also pledged to seek retribution for Haniyeh's assassination. Qa'ani praised Haniyeh as a "valiant leader" and a "unifying force" within the Muslim world, highlighting his significant role in the resistance movement.
The Quds Force commander also congratulated Sinwar on his new position, commending his leadership skills and longstanding commitment to the anti-occupation struggle.
