Tehran (IP) - The Iranian President, in a meeting with the new South African ambassador, hailed South Africa’s genocide complaint against the Israeli regime in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), saying Iran will lend its support to the move.

Iran PressIran News:  Iran's President, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, on Sunday in a meeting where he received the letter of credence of South Africa’s new ambassador, Francis Molloy, said: “South Africa’s decision to submit a complaint against the crimes of the Israeli regime is a historical, enduring and admirable move and the Islamic Republic of Iran supports this smart and wise initiative,”

Stating that there is no obstacle in the path of expanding relations between Iran and South Africa, the President stated: "Improving the level of cooperation between Iran and South Africa is in the interest of the two sides."

For his part, Molloy described relations between South Africa and Iran as distinctive and ideal while expressing hope that he could take constructive steps on the path to expand ties between the two countries. 

The Hague-based ICJ began hearings on South Africa’s genocide case against the Israeli regime on January 11.
