The Iranian Parliament Speaker stressed the need for the unity of Islamic countries in confronting Israeli crimes and stated that any cooperation and dialogue with the Zionists should be stopped.

Iran Press/Europe: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's Parliament Speaker, at the extraordinary meeting of the Union of Parliaments of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) on the sidelines of the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva, said: "Some Western countries, with the full support of the United States, seek to reach a point where they can commit any crime in any part of the Islamic world and remain immune from punishment. In this situation, should the Islamic world watch this situation?"

The 149th International Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland, with the presence of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and other speakers of parliaments from across the world, started today, Sunday, October 22, and this meeting will continue until Thursday, October 26.

The International Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), as the parliamentary arm of the United Nations, holds two main summits annually, where the speakers and other representatives of the world's parliaments exchange opinions and approve resolutions.

The topic of the current summit is "Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for a more peaceful and Sustainable Future" and in this summit, all the statutory bodies of the IPU, including the Inter-Parliamentary Council, the Assembly, the Quadruple Permanent Committees, the seminars of the young and women representatives are convened. 

The 149th Assembly of the IPU will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 13-17 October 2024. All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on West Asian Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs, will meet on this occasion.
