Iran Press/ Iran News: In a recent meeting held between Iranian officials and authorities of Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s member states in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand, the two sides underlined boosting trade and removing barriers and challenges in the financial and banking sectors.
Majid Karimi stated on Saturday that Iran’s membership in the Organization would significantly affect the Islamic Republic and other SCO member states in line with strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties in the economic, political, cultural, and banking sectors.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he noted that Iran’s trade of non-oil products with SCO member states in the first three months of the current Iranian year registered a 29 percent hike compared to the last year’s corresponding period.
He highlighted that Iran exported 12.34 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at $9.856 billion, to SCO member states.
Iran joined Shanghai Cooperation Organization officially in Samarkand of Uzbekistan on September 16, 2022. Iran’s membership request was presented to the Secretariat of the Organization in February 2005.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was founded by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in the United Nations in 2001.
