The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus and discussed bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

Iran Press/West Asia: Seyyed Abbas Araghchi's meeting with the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad took place on Sunday evening, December 1, 2024.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran left Tehran for Damascus on Sunday morning, December 1, 2024, and arrived in the Syrian capital on Sunday evening.

Upon arrival at Damascus airport, Araghchi was welcomed by Syrian officials, Iranian Ambassador Hossein Akbari, and other Iranian officials in Damascus.

During this visit, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi will discuss and exchange views with Syrian officials on bilateral relations, the recent movements of terrorist groups in Syria, and support for the government and people of this country.

Before departing for Damascus, Iran's Foreign Minister in an interview with reporters stated: "Today I am leaving for Damascus to carry the message of the Islamic Republic to the Syrian government; we firmly support the Syrian army and government." 219
