Mahran Barkhordari, representing Iran in the men's -80kg Taekwondo category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has secured his place in the final after a thrilling semifinal victory against South Korea's Seo Gyeon-woo.

Iran PressEurope:  Barkhordari, who had previously defeated Seo at the Grand Slam competition, once again emerged victorious in a tightly contested match.

In the first round, Barkhordari was down 4-2 but came back strong in the second round, winning 13-9. He continued his momentum into the third round, winning 12-8, and ultimately claimed a 2-1 victory overall. The match was highly intense, with the outcome hanging in the balance until the final moments.

Earlier in the competition, Barkhordari defeated Uzbekistan's Jasurbek, the 2024 Asian champion, 2-1 in the first round. In his second match, he faced a tough challenge against Italy's Simone Alisu, who holds the world No. 1 ranking and boasts multiple World Championship and European Championship titles. Despite the odds, Barkhordari managed to secure a narrow 2-1 victory in this hard-fought battle, advancing to the semifinals.
