Herat (IP) - Rescue teams of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the first foreign team to help the victims of the earthquake in Afghanistan, entered the earthquake-affected areas in Herat province on Monday with equipment and search dogs.

Iran PressAsia: Strong aftershocks continue in Herat province, western Afghanistan, and many people are still under the rubble following a strong earthquake in these areas.

Sajjadi, head of the Iranian Red Crescent team told Iran Press that the team has come to the areas with advanced and complete equipment to speed up the delivery of aid.

Mawlavi Matiul Haq Khalis, Acting President of the Afghan Red Crescent, welcomed and expressed his gratitude for the presence of Iran's rescue teams in the earthquake-stricken areas.

Two Afghan citizens also told Iran Press that the Islamic Republic, as Afghanistan's neighbor, is the best country that is providing aid to the victims.

The earthquake of about 6.30 magnitude in Herat in the west of Afghanistan has left extensive human and financial losses and some villages in this province have been destroyed.

The earthquake-affected village of Naib Rafi in Zandejan district has been almost destroyed and every Afghan citizen who was in his old mud house during the terrible earthquake has lost his life.

The images of Iran Press show that due to the terrible earthquake in Herat province, a disaster and extensive destruction occurred in the village of "Naib Rafi" in "Zandejan" district.
