Tehran (IP) -The Spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that sending humanitarian aid to Gaza simultaneously with the termination of war on the strip is on the agenda of the Islamic Republic.

Iran Press/Iran News: Nasser Kanaani told reporters on Monday that the Red Crescent Society of Iran and Egypt have been in contact in several stages to send humanitarian aid to Gaza and that the Iranian aid has been sent to Egyptian ports through the sea.

Discussions also have been made with the International Red Cross and the Secretary General of the United Nations and his deputies, along with extensive consultations with Islamic countries about sending aid to Gaza, Kanaani said.

He told the reports: "We cannot send aid directly, and unfortunately, Egypt has not allowed Iran to send aid directly as a result of its dialogue with Israel."

Israel uses hunger as a weapon of war, to continue its genocide against the people of Gaza, a catastrophe that must be stopped through the International Court of Justice mechanism, the Iranian MFA spokesman said. 204

Humanitarian aid to Gaza by the U.S. is seen as a symbolic gesture, says Spokesman

Kanaani highlighted the continued atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza and criticized Washington for vetoing a UNSC resolution aimed at stopping the ongoing conflict.

"It has been five months since the brutal attacks by the Zionist regime began in Gaza," Kanaani stated. "Unfortunately, we have seen a lack of action from the international community, particularly the United Nations and Security Council, whose primary responsibility is to maintain global peace and security."

The Spokesman went on to criticize the U.S. for its role in perpetuating the conflict by providing support to Israel while also sending humanitarian aid to Palestinians as a way to improve its public image.

Regarding U.S. sanctions against Iran, Kanaani expressed concern over the impact on Iranian citizens, particularly those with medical conditions who have faced difficulties accessing necessary medications due to restrictions on pharmaceutical companies.

He also emphasized Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and stated that any baseless or non-technical statements would not affect Iran's decisions regarding its nuclear program.

In response to comments from U.S. officials about Iran's nuclear activities, Kanaani asserted that the U.S., as a violator of international agreements such as the JCPOA, does not have the authority to comment on Iran's actions and must fulfill its obligations.

Kanaani further discussed recent meetings between Iranian officials and representatives of the European Union to discuss bilateral and regional issues, including efforts to lift sanctions as part of ongoing negotiations related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

"We are committed to engaging in negotiations for lifting sanctions," Kanaani stated. "If all parties are willing, these discussions can proceed promptly." The meetings also addressed regional developments and concerns related to ongoing conflicts such as the situation in Gaza. 204
