Ali Bagheri, the acting Foreign Minister of Iran, and Sergey Lavrov, the Russian top diplomat, met in New York to discuss the latest status of bilateral cooperation and regional issues.

During the meeting, Bagheri highlighted recent progress in bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia, assessing the advancement of relations as moving in the right direction.

He expressed hope that the legal formalities for finalizing key documents in the bilateral cooperation agenda, particularly the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty and cooperation agreements, including the utilization of Iran's transit capacity, would be completed soon.

On regional developments and the situation in Gaza, Bagheri emphasized the urgent need to prevent the continuation of crimes and attacks by the Israeli regime against the people of Gaza.

He pointed out that ignoring this issue and the escalation of the regime's attacks would be the source of further tensions and crises in the region. Bagheri commended Russia's efforts in response to its plan to raise the issue of Palestine and the Israeli crimes in the Gaza war during its rotating presidency of the Security Council.

In turn, the Russian Foreign Minister congratulated Iran on the successful holding of the presidential elections and expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral cooperation. Lavrov, noting Russia's shared concern about the potential expansion of conflict and widespread Israeli aggression, including against Lebanon, stated that his country seeks to prevent such an event and stressed the responsibility of all parties in this regard.

During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on holding regional trilateral meetings, and necessary planning measures were discussed as well.
