The Chief of General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces expressed the country's readiness to participate fully in the Joint Military Commission in Baku.

Iran PressIran News: At the initiative of the Iranian side, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, on August 22.

The sides held a detailed exchange of views on the situation in the region and security issues. The prospects for developing military cooperation between the two countries were also discussed during the telephone conversation.

The Chief of General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces stated that creating security and peace in the borders is only possible with the unity of the neighboring countries, and the presence of foreigners in the region will cause tension and conflict.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan also announced the full readiness of the armed forces of this country regarding the improvement of the level of bilateral military and defense cooperation and said that the Republic of Azerbaijan always considers the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friendly and close country and welcomes military alliance in all fields.

Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov expressed his desire for the Republic of Azerbaijan to host the Iranian delegation for the Joint Military Commission in Baku shortly.

In the end, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov invited Major General Bagheri to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The relationship between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan received a boost following a meeting between their presidents on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.
