A senior military commander revealed Iran's intentions to increase the reach of its naval power towards the Indian Ocean, in a move to counteract US efforts to limit Iran's maritime capabilities.

Highlighting the need to challenge US strategies aimed at restricting Iran's presence at sea, General Nasirzadeh stated that Iran must enhance its regional and international naval influence towards the Indian Ocean. He mentioned that the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has specific plans in place to achieve this goal.

Commending the Army and IRGC naval forces for strengthening Iran's defense capabilities in the region, General Nasirzadeh pointed to the success of Iran's 86th flotilla of warships that completed a global voyage last year as evidence of Iran's naval prowess.
