Muscat (IP) - In the meeting between the Minister of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman, the need to speed up the implementation of the agreements of the two sides in the field of communications and information technology was emphasized in a bid to develop the relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/ West Asia: According to Iran Press; Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Isa Zarepour, met and talked with Oman's Minister of Communications and Transport Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali in Muscat on Wednesday.

In this meeting, Zarepour said: "In the field of communication, programs such as cooperation in the field of data transit, as well as in infrastructure sectors, plans for cooperation have been developed, and in the field of information technology, the Islamic Republic of Iran has good experience in the field of electronic government and setting up digital services, which we can cooperate with."

Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Iran, referring to the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of communications and information technology, expressed hope that the development of relations between the two countries will continue.

In this meeting, Oman's Minister of Communications and Transport also expressed hope for cooperation in the field of data transit with 15 neighboring countries of Iran and said: "Agreements have been reached regarding the transfer of data from Oman Tel to Infrastructure Communications Company in expert meetings."

Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali also announced Oman's readiness for joint investment to establish data centers in Iran and Oman.

The visit of Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology to Muscat is a response to the visit of the Minister of Communications and Transport of Oman that took place in May of this year (2023) and during this visit, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on joint cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, post, post bank, and information technology.
